SUCCESS IN WHAT REALLY MATTERS

I love this great quote from Francis Chan, which ties into what I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. I believe that we desire to be good people, but we can struggle to pinpoint what that exactly means.

.

Is it important to have a certain job? Is it important to be a millionaire? Is it important to have a family? Those questions, and many more, are things that you might place in the “important” category, but are they the things that will really matter at the end of our lives?

.

I can think back to when I was training for long-distance triathlons. I would spend 2–7 hours training a day. Most of it was done by myself and every minute of my day went was purposeful into prepping, doing, and recovering from my workouts. When training last year for the World Championships, I got injured, which completely took me out of training for the first time in my life. During those months of recovery, I came to realize in the end, my ability to do a race didn’t really define who I was. Although I love to train and will be active until the day I die, it really didn’t matter. Oddly enough, I am grateful for my injury last year and the lessons that it taught me. It might have been the best thing that’s ever happened to me!
