Get More Done with a Scrum Board
I’ve recently started using a “scrum board” to manage my tasks when working in groups and I’ve found it really beneficial for a number of reasons, as I will outline below:
1) We collaborate — we begin every group meeting at the scrum board and spend time talking about what our tasks are going to be for the day. We are able to hear how the other projects are progressing, give feedback and see the bigger picture of how our individual tasks fit into the larger group goals.
2) We stay focused — we each know what our specific roles are, and what we must complete to accomplish these tasks. We work on one task, complete it, and move on to the next one.
3) We stay motivated — I love being able to visually see the tasks on the to-do list. It motivates me to work hard, and finish my task with quality, before moving on to the next item and progressing from “to-do” to “in progress” to “done”. There is nothing better than placing your post-it note into that last category!
