David Allen’s 2-Minute Rule Explained

A lot of people have problems beginning a task because they don’t know which task to do next. So when you’re trying to determine what your next action should be, follow this rule “IF A TASK CAN BE DONE IN TWO MINUTES OR LESS, YOU SHOULD DO IT RIGHT AWAY”.

This rule ties perfectly into the 4 D’s of productivity that I talked about in another video — you can find the link to that in the description below. Rather than spending time thinking about it or planning your next step, just do it if it can be done in two minutes. If the task will take more than two minutes, you might want to delegate, delay, or ditch it depending on how important of a task it is. David Allen’s two minute rule is a simple yet effective way to increase your productivity.
