If success leaves clues, what are they?

When we look at successful people, we often think that they became successful because of some superhuman ability they had. It could be someone like Usain Bolt being the fastest sprinter in the world. It could be Elon Musk changing the course of humanity with products like Tesla, PayPal, and SpaceX. Or another example could be Oprah, who is a great humanitarian of our time and has definitely left a lasting legacy. But the reality is that these people were just like you and I before they became a success.

A very successful mentor of mine has the motto “SUCCESS LEAVE CLUES” and I totally believe it’s true. If Usain Bolt didn’t put the work in and train, he wouldn’t have broken world records. If Elon Musk hadn’t been disciplined, he wouldn’t have created products that have literally changed the way we live. And if Oprah had let her circumstances hold her back, she would not have impacted billions of people worldwide. But if success leaves clues, what are they?

I’ve been studying successful people for a few years now and I’ve become very interested in learning how they think, how they look at money, how they view pain, and many other things, so I’ve created a list of 7 things I see successful people doing regularly that are going to help you create success in your own life.

The first thing successful people do is that they set the tone for the day ahead. From the moment they wake up, they know exactly what their purpose is for the day, they know what their intentions are and how it fits into both their short-term and long-term plans. Successful people set the tone for their day by creating a good morning routine. Even though everyone’s morning routine might look different, it might be short for some, or long for others, it might involve journaling your thoughts and goals for the day, or it might involve prayer, meditation, a healthy breakfast, and a number of other things, but establishing a solid morning routine is a key part of your success.

The second thing successful people do is that they develop and cultivate an abundance mindset. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that our most powerful resource is our mind. When studying successful people, I have seen time and time again that they have exceptional mindsets and view life as having massive potential. When the regular person is held back by a scarcity mindset, the successful person is propelled forward by an abundance mindset. The legends of our time have found ways to recognize what they think or feel about something and push past their limiting beliefs into a place of prosperity, so how can you upgrade your mindset?

The third thing successful people do is that they see money as a reward for providing value and ultimately view it as a tool to live out their value. If you look quickly at some stats around money, it doesn’t take long to realize most people aren’t very good with it, so if you do what everyone else does, you’ll get what everyone else gets, but that’s not going to get you financial success. It took me 27 years to realize that some of the beliefs I had about money were things like “having money is bad” or “I don’t deserve to make a lot of money” and it wasn’t until I started challenging these beliefs that they changed. I shifted these beliefs into one that understood when I provided something that was valuable to the world, I would be rewarded financially and that when that happened, I knew I deserved it. By challenging your current beliefs about money and then seeing it as a tool to live out your values, you will definitely be on the right path to success.

The fourth thing successful people do is they make health a priority in their life. They make sure to maintain a healthy mind, body, and soul because they understand that without good health, it is holding them back from reaching their potential. One key part to getting your health back on track is that you need to make changes slowly and sustainably instead of jumping onto the latest fad diet or doing a trendy exercise without knowing how it benefits you. Taking the time to exercise regularly builds confidence, commitment, and character, so find out what you enjoy and make a plan to start. Remember, health is wealth, and understanding that sustainable growth over the long-term is going to take time and effort, but it will definitely be worth it in the end.

The fifth thing successful people do is they create a community around them who make them better. I’ve noticed that successful people are very purposeful about who is in their circle. They think about what they want to accomplish and they find people who have done it. It might happen by fluke, they might send them a DM on social media to meet up, or they might even pay for the chance to meet and network, but they know what they want and they don’t stop until they get it and when they do connect they understand that a truly successful relationship occurs when they give more than they receive. Another important thing successful people do is that they aren’t afraid to get rid of people who hold them back, take away their energy, or have another negative impact on their life. Sometimes this means spending less time with coworkers, friends, and even family, but this is one thing successful people do that regular people don’t. My challenge to you is to think about what you want to accomplish and then determine who can help you get there.

The sixth thing successful people do is they are constantly learning. It doesn’t matter if they are meeting someone for lunch, reading a book every week, or watching videos on YouTube, successful people are always looking for opportunities to learn something new and they enjoy this process. I have found that scheduling in time for “learning” during my morning routine has been one of the best things I’ve done because even 20 minutes to start my day makes a big difference in my mindset, my outlook, and my productivity throughout the rest of it.

The seventh thing successful people do is they wind down from the day and start preparing for tomorrow by having a solid night routine. We often think that some of the most successful people are the ones who work 24/7 and never take a break, but any short-term success that comes with that lifestyle will end quickly. True success comes when you tie in consistent days, weeks, months, years, and decades of focus and effort, and that can only happen with a sustainable lifestyle. I believe successful people are prepared for tomorrow before tomorrow even starts and they do this with their night routine. Some choose to stop working entirely at 5 PM and spend the evening with their family. Others choose to drink an herbal tea, plan out the next day, and read before going to bed. We all have very busy lives and a lot of commitments, so the best thing you can do is experiment with what works for you to create a great night routine.

Remember, SUCCESS LEAVES CLUES, and in this video I’ve shared with you 7 things successful people do every day so that you can take some of these and build them into your life.
